Direction and turn count

R turns the right face 90 degrees clockwise as viewed directly from that face.

R' turns it 90 degrees counter-clockwise. R2 turns it 180 degrees in either direction.

Separate moves with spaces or line breaks. Example: R U R' U'

Wide, slice, and whole-cube turns

  • Lowercase r or Rw turns the two layers on the R side; u, d, l, f, and b follow the same rule.
  • M, E, and S turn the middle slices between L/R, U/D, and F/B.
  • x, y, and z reorient the whole cube around the R, U, and F axes.
  • Prime and 2 suffixes work on every extended move, for example r' M2 x.

  • Hold Shift with a face letter for a counter-clockwise turn.
  • Hold Alt with a face letter for a double turn.
